Closing of the Bones
All around the world mamas-to-be are deeply respected and celebrated as they are the gateway through which our precious future generations enter the world.
A Closing of the Bones is an ancient postpartum healing ceremony to honour mamas transformation from maiden to mother, and to close the birth portal physically, spiritually and energetically.
The ceremony uses authentic rebozos (Mexican scarves) to wrap mamas body so she feels held, supported and nurtured to come home to herself as Mother. It is also said to close the energetic birth portal so that energy is no longer leaving mamas body after birth. It gently supports mama's vitality too and invites back in her birthing power.
In my readings, mamas often do these ceremonies at the end of their sacred window (first 42 days), but it can also take place any time after birth, whenever mama feels ready. Even years later! And also for spirit babies that never completed their journey to earth, this is a beautiful way to support mamas healing. This ceremony can also be offered to women for any rites of passage in life which I think is so beautiful and creates space to honour the transitions of life.
A Closing of the Bones could include:
• Creating an alter with foraged foliage and any special tokens you’d like to add
• Meditation to connect with our wombs, recognising the inner and outer strengths engendered in pregnancy, birth and postpartum
• Cacao ceremony, tea ceremony and/or sound healing
• Walking through your birth experience so you feel heard, seen and can process and heal
• Gentle nurturing touch and energy healing
• Traditional rebozo wrapping
Exchange:
$250 - 1.5 hour morning or afternoon ceremony
